Dr. Pendley was born in Oakland, California, lived in the
Phillipines and attended a military school through kindergarten. He graduated
from Hayward High School in 1966 and received a baseball scholarship to
Fresno State. He received his BS from Fresno State in 1970. While completing
his teaching credential in 1971, he was the Assistant Baseball Coach at
Fresno State. Dr. Pendley received his Master's Degree in Educational Administration
from Fresno Pacific College in 1985 and completed his Doctorate Degree in
Organizational Leadership from the University of LaVerne in 1994. Dr. Pendley
has taught at the elementary through University levels and has had a variety
of administrative experiences at the K-12 level. In 1990, while at Madera
Unified, he was named California Administrator of the Year for Alternative
Education. In 1991, Dr. Pendley became the Chawanakee Joint School District
Superintendent and in 1994 added the duties of Minarets Joint Union High
School District Superintendent. He held both positions until moving to the
Valley and taking over as Superintendent of the Hemet Unified School District
in 2002. Dr. Pendley is also a faculty member at the University of LaVerne
in the Department of Organizational Leadership, working with doctoral candidates.
